After 45 years on the sidelines, coaching legend Vito Capizzo calls it quits |
(Dec. 30, 2009) After 45 years of pacing the sidelines every fall, legendary Nantucket High School football coach Vito Capizzo called it quits this spring.
The man who turned a sport into a tradition, who took a high school so small that he had to wander the halls convincing every boy to pull on a helmet and shoulder pads and turned it into one of the winningest foot ball programs in Massachusetts history, announced in May that he was retiring.
