New police station taking shape after citizen's attempt to scale back size, cost

(Dec. 30, 2009) A new police station was finally, and narrowly, approved by Nantucket voters in 2009, and the $15 mil lion project is currently under way on Fairgrounds Road.

In the midst of an unyielding recession that battered the island economy, island voters decided to dig a little deeper into their pockets to come up with the funds to build the new facility.
